Run it yourself.
Nostos is free software under the AGPLv3. The version you run at home is the same Nostos as Nostos Cloud, with no account and no subscription.
One Compose file
Save this as compose.yml:
services:
nostos:
image: ghcr.io/christian-gennari/nostos:latest
ports:
- "5099:8080"
volumes:
- nostos-data:/data
restart: unless-stopped
volumes:
nostos-data:
Start it with docker compose up -d, then open
http://localhost:5099. From another machine on your
network, use the server’s address instead of
localhost.
The /data volume holds everything: the database, your
books and audiobooks, local backups, and the keys for anything you
save in Settings. Keep it on a local disk.
What it runs on
The image is published for amd64 and arm64, 64-bit only, so it runs on a home server, a NAS, a Raspberry Pi with a 64-bit OS, or an Apple Silicon Mac with Docker. It includes everything it needs, FFmpeg too.
Give it at least 512 MB of memory; 1 GB is comfortable. Nostos uses about 110 MB when idle and about 320 MB at its peak with 50 EPUBs and 5 audiobooks. Disk space grows with your books and audiobooks.

Rather not run a server? Nostos Cloud is the same Nostos, kept running and backed up for you, and your library can move between the two.
