Who we are

Nostos is operated by Christian Gennari, sole trader (enskild firma), Hudiksvall, Sweden. You can reach us at contact@nostos.page. Our postal address is available on request at the same address.

The software is free software

The Nostos application is published under the GNU General Public License v3. That licence, which ships with the application, defines what you may do with it: run it, read it, change it, and share it. Nothing on this page restricts those rights.

What you buy here

What this site sells is access to hosted Nostos. Checkout is completed by Paddle, who act as the merchant of record — Paddle is the seller for the transaction, and Paddle's terms, including the cancellation and refund policy that applies to your purchase, govern it. Nothing on this page replaces them.

Subscriptions, trial and cancellation

Hosted Nostos is a subscription, billed monthly or annually at the prices shown on the pricing page, and it renews until you cancel. Where a plan offers a free trial, payment details are taken when the trial starts and the first charge is made when it ends, unless you cancel before then.

You can cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, and you keep access until then. Cancelling does not delete your library.

14-day no-questions-asked refunds

If you try hosted Nostos and decide it is not for you, or if your subscription renews and you forgot to cancel, we offer a full refund within 14 days of the charge — no explanation required.

To request a refund, either:

• Email us at contact@nostos.page with your account email or order reference; or
• Use Paddle's automated buyer portal at paddle.net.

Paddle will return the funds directly to your original payment method. When a refund is issued, your hosted Nostos access ends. Because your reading data belongs to you, we strongly recommend exporting your library first, from Settings in the Nostos app under Manage Library.

Your consumer rights

If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights that these terms do not limit. Where anything on this page conflicts with them, they take precedence.

Hosted Nostos is in early access

The hosted service is offered in early access, without a service-level commitment. It may be unavailable while it is being built, its features may change, and we do not promise that the infrastructure behind it will never be reset. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot lose.

Your library and uploaded content

You keep your rights in the books, files, notes, and other material you bring to Nostos. Using hosted Nostos does not transfer ownership of that material to us.

You are responsible for making sure you are legally entitled to upload, store, process, and use the material you place in hosted Nostos. Private use does not by itself make an unlawfully sourced copy lawful.

Hosted Nostos libraries are private by default. We do not promise to inspect every private file in advance to decide whether it is lawful or licensed. We may, however, investigate a sufficiently specific report, a valid judicial or administrative order, or another legitimate trigger.

Where justified, we may restrict access to identified content while it is reviewed or preserved, disable access to it, or remove that specific hosted material. Serious or repeated violations may also lead to account restrictions or termination. Any such action remains subject to rights and obligations that applicable law does not allow these terms to exclude.

These hosted-service responsibilities are different from self-hosted Nostos. If you run Nostos on your own hardware, we do not host those files and cannot administer that independent installation's content.

Reports about allegedly illegal or infringing material in hosted Nostos can be submitted through the content-reporting form.

Changes to these terms

Hosted Nostos records the version of the terms accepted by an account. If a future material change requires a new acceptance, the service may ask you to review and accept the current version before continuing with affected hosted-service actions.

Liability

The Nostos application and hosted Nostos service are provided as they are. To the extent Swedish and European consumer law allows, we are not liable for lost data, interrupted service, or indirect damages. Nothing here excludes liability for intent or gross negligence, or anything else the law does not allow us to exclude.

Acceptable use

Do not use this website or hosted Nostos to break the law, to attack them, or to interfere with anyone else's use of them.

Governing law

Swedish law governs these terms, and disputes belong to the Swedish courts — without taking away the consumer protections of the country you live in.
